About
A Charlottesville native, I was immersed in the arts from a young age. With parents who have creativity flowing through their veins, it was always a part of our everyday life. I doodled as a child, gained a Studio Art degree from James Madison University, taught Art to middle and high schoolers for three years and completed a Masters in Art Therapy in the DC area. Painting will always be interwoven into the fabric of my life, both in personal expression and helping others walk towards healing through the act of creating.
I have always been drawn to color, movement and large brushwork. I love how the combination of these things creates vibrancy and energy in a piece. The messy, loose, experimental process of painting is the one I love. I enjoy watching colors mix and layer in unexpected places that draws the eye in and moves it around the piece. I'm intrigued by attempting to capture people, animals and objects around me for what they are but seeing where color can be added and tinkered with to bring out a new perspective.
